Four players representating Dzongri Football Club have been selected for Assam League by the Volcano GHT FC on loan basis under professional football. The players are leaving for Guwahati on 14th of January for the up coming Assam league.
The players are Gyatso Lepcha (Tathangchen), Pappu Chettri (Tadong), Sonam chong Bhutia (Yuksom) and Zigmee Shenga (Gyalshing) respectively.
Speaking to the media, vice-president Chewang Sangdarpa, Dzongri FC said that the president of Volcano GHT FC had visited the state and seen the players during their practice. The president then requested to provide four for their club to play in the up coming Assam League form their club. Mr. Sangdarpa said that it is an honor and privilege that such FC are coming in the state and selecting our local players and the club.
Dzongri FC said that the club was formed during the year 1980 and they have been receiving positive response form the state and even outside. We want to give a platform for our local players so they get better opportunities in the bigger clubs of the country, it said. Many local players the club have been selected in various clubs like Mohammed Sporting club (Kolkata) and even in Lucknow Army along with SSB and they are performing well. Furthermore it was also added that our FC is planning to hold a two month winter coaching camp in Gyalshing for under 14 starting next yea. The camp would mainly focus upon rural areas. Discussion with other FC of the state and SFA would be carried out soon with regard to coaching camp.
Pintsho Bhutia, Dzongri FC expressed happiness over the selection of four local players by bigger clubs. The players will get better exposure nation wide on the basis of their game. Dzongri FC said that despite financial constraints they are working on development of football in the state by giving opportunities to interested youth. General Secretary Sumit Thirani, Dzongri FC concluded by saying that there is a lot of expectation from the four selected players as they can be the key to success for future players of Sikkim.
