MLA Lachen-Mangan discusses with public

Under the aegis of Area MLA Lachen-Mangan, Tshering Wangdi Lepcha a meeting was organized for the public of Mangan Bazaar Ward Nos. 4 and 5 (Rinzing Namgyal Marg and Lower Mangan Bazaar). An open discussion was conducted where Mangan Nagar Panchayat (MNP) President, K.J. Bhutia, MNP councilor, P.K. Malu, local gentry and business persons of the town were present.

On being asked about the promotion of tourism for Mangan Bazaar MLA Mr.Lepcha informed that a project on beautification of the old bazaar and other areas has been prepared and sent to the North East Council (NEC) for financial sanction. Mr. Lepcha even stated that a project for the sewerage system of the town has also been prepared by PHE and the project has been sent for approval to NEC. During the meet MNP councilors suggested the MLA that a Children Park be also developed below new multi storied car park under construction.

The public of Mangan put forward their complaints on garbage dumping along with shortfall of LPG gases, road condition, insufficient supply of power at hospital and charges charged by the ambulance. Assuring about the LPG supply the MLA said that local cooperative have been set up at Chungtang and Singhik in collaboration with STCS from where the LPG gases will be available. The work on road has been started at various stages by Border Road Organization and the road will be constructed with a thickness of M30 grade. He urged the BPL category People not to pay any fees for ambulance servicers and generator for the hospital has been sanctioned.

Mr. Lepcha assured of supporting Mangan Film Festival as well. The youths of Mangan will be organizing a music fest on 26th of January as fund raising. The people requested the MLA for providing adequate Safai Karmacharia along with a vehicle to ferry the garbage for disposal from Urban Development and Housing Department.
