Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Department Mr NK Pradhan inaugurated the State Level Winter Archery Camp here at Paljor Stadium on 29th November.
Organized by Sikkim Archery Association (SAA) altogether 25 aspiring archers from all over Sikkim are participating in this camp. Mr Jigme Y Lepcha, coach of the camp while talking with the media persons said that training will be imparted on Indian Round Archery and simultaneously the preparation for the Junior National will be also conducted which will be held on 27th December at New Delhi. According to him four boys and four girls will be selected in the state level championship that will be held on 2nd December at Paljor Stadium.
Minister Mr NK Pradhan informed that the Government has earmarked the site at South Sikkim to establish Archery Academy. Stating that SAA is doing a good job by imparting training on archery he also mentioned that every possible assistance would be provided by the Sports department.
Speaking on the achievement of Tarun Deep Rai he said such laurel has taken the archery sport to the next level in the State. Mr TT Bhutia, the President of SAA also congratulated Tarun Deep Rai on the occasion. The new Secretary of the department Mr Karma P Bhutia was also welcomed by the members of the Association during the function.
