T. Lanchungpa, spokesperson, JAC said “It is now clear that our Karmpa Trinley Dorjee is not a Chinese spy. I congratulate local media of Sikkim who were very supportive throughout this period and constructive in their reporting”.
The Press conference was called on the basis of reports coming from national media that Government of India has given a clean chit to His Holiness the 17th Karmapa. There has been no notification given by GOI on the Karmapa issue. It’s the media that revealed that Karmapa was given a clean chit.
Sonam Topden, General Secretary asserted that “we have not been in touch with Government and neither received any information from them. But, we are in touch with the delegation that went to meet Home Secretry, G.K Pillai. That delegation confirmed to us that Home Secretary mentioned to them that Karmapa is clear from all the allegations”.
On the issue of what will be the next steps of JAC and KRC, T. Lanchungpa mentioned that “Since everything is pretty clear now our efforts will be in a direction to bring H.H 17th Karmapa back to Rumtek”.
