The film whose title was taken from a Harivansh Rai Bachchan poem was considered y some as a loose adaptation of the 1983 Hollywood film Scarface starring Al Pacino. The films plot was based on the life Mumbai underworld.
In the 2012 Agneepath, the role of Amitabh Bachchan will be played by Hrithik Roshan against Priyanka Chopra. In the remake the character played by Mithun Chakraborty has been done away with. The role of the villain will be played by Sanjay Dutt in the new Agneepath to be released in 2012.
Danny said about his role being played by Sanjay Dutt, “Sanjay’s getup is far different from what I sported….If I was asked to do Kancha Cheena again, I would play it differently.”
The famous Bollywood villain from Sikkim who still spends a good part of the year at his farmhouse in Sikkim counts his role in Kaalicharan, Dhund and Agneepath as his one of the best. However, Danny rates his role in Bengali film Lal Kuthi at the top. The film ran for more than 60 weeks.
Though Agneepath flopped at the box office, it is still considered as one of the all time classics of Bollywood.
