Thursday saw many candidates filing their nomination for the upcoming Panchayat election, slated to be held on November 3, 2012.
East District received the highest nominations today, with 21 nominations. Out of 21, 18 candidates have filed their nomination for Ward Panchayat and 3 for Zilla Panchayat, informed DC East D Anandan to SIKKIM MAIL. 3 are Independent candidates while the rest are from the ruling SDF party.
Likewise, in the West District, 4 nominations has been filed which records 2 each from SDF and Independent.
As per the data received from the DC, South, AK Singh 15 candidates have submitted their nomination forms for Ward Panchayat, today. Among the 15, 14 are from SDF and 1 Independent. There has been no nomination for the Zilla Panchayat in the South until now.
Similarly, 4 candidates have submitted their nomination in North District, which includes 3 for the Ward panchayats and 1 for the Zilla Panchayat. The nomination received is all from the SDF.
The nomination filling process that started from September 25 will be closed on October 1. The last date for the withdrawl of the candidature is October 5. The election will be held on November 3.
